Teaching

The Carleton lab provides a rich teaching environment for both graduate and undergraduate classes in many areas of civil engineering and engineering mechanics:

  • Experimental mechanics of materials & continuum mechanics
  • Soil mechanics
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Geotechnical earthquake engineering
  • Forensic structural engineering
  • Dynamics and vibrations
  • Earthquake engineering
  • Structural health monitoring
  • Sustainability in civil engineering
  • Engineering in developing communities

The lab is also active in bringing engineering to the local community, participating actively in university-sponsored outreach and support programs such as CU GK-12, Columbia Secondary School for Math, Science, and Engineering, to name a few.
