Professor Rene B. Testa Retires as Director of Research
Professor Rene B. Testa retires as Director of Carleton Laboratory and Faculty of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics after half a centy of service; his family and friends have contributed to establish an award in his name.

Effective immediately, Professor Andrew Smyth will replace Testa as Director of Research. Andrew Smyth has been a strong proponent and asset of the Carleton Laboratory since his arrival at Columbia University in 1998. His research interests - structural dynamics, health monitoring, nonlinear system identification, random vibrations, and rocking of objects - involve significant experimental work and also industry cooperation.
